About Us

What to Expect

If you come to join us for worship, please know that you can come as you are. We seek to be a church where all are welcome. So you can be comfortable in visiting, we want you to know that most of our church family dresses business casual though you will find some in our church family prefer to dress more casual (jeans and t-shirts) and others more formal (ties, dresses and the like), we certainly have no ‘dress code’. Our facility is handicap accessible.

History

Founded in 1972 as a merger of the North Bessemer and East End Gospel Tabernacle, the Penn Hills Alliance Church has had an impact on the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh for over 40 years. As a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, we long to carry out the command of Christ to, “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19). We believe that this begins with the proclamation of the Gospel (the good news of Jesus’ perfect life, substitutionary death and triumphant resurrection) to all, beginning with our neighbors and extending around the globe.

Mission

Penn Hills Alliance Logo final

Our mission is captured in five words: Grace, Accept, Equip, Go, Love. The graphic representation of our mission brings home the reality that we feel these five words are an ongoing reality in our church and in the lives of those in our church family. We feel that everyone needs and is given the grace of God. We hope and pray that His grace is accepted by us. We understand that we are equipped by God and the people of God to go. As recipients of grace, equipped by God, we must go and carry His grace to a broken and lost world. None of this matters if it is not carried out with the Love of God as its foundation and motivation. This love was demonstrated for us at the cross, where Christ died in our place so we could know the grace, acceptance, equipping and love of the Father.
